Chiropractic Education In North America 0

Jun 28, 2008 | Uncategorized

Find Chiropractic Education in the United States and Canada. Prospective applicants in North America have ample opportunities to earn their chiropractic education through one of several chiropractic schools and universities. Students desiring to become doctors of chiropractic must receive adequate chiropractic education and training in a course-intensive curriculum involving studies in anatomy, clinical nutrition, chemistry/biochemistry, bacteriology, pathology, physiology, radiology, and practical chiropractic techniques.

Because it is one of the largest health care professions, chiropractic education is instrumental in teaching students the art, science and philosophy of this fascinating healing modality. As a natural health care alternative, chiropractic education may seem to be a simple course of study; however, do not let the guise of natural healing fool you into believing that it will be that easy. Chiropractic education courses are quite the challenge, and most prospective students will discover that certain prerequisites must be met prior to applying. For example, many chiropractic education programs require students to have at least earned a bachelor’s degree and/or other formal education.

Chiropractic education programs also require a great deal of dedication and effort – in addition to continuing education courses beyond graduation, students enrolled in chiropractic education courses will learn that most states require a minimum standard of hours and licensure, which means that students can expect to be participating in a long-term course of study with a minimum of 4,200 hours of class/clinical instruction. Furthermore, some chiropractic education programs are often extended to successful graduates seeking supplementary training in particular areas of pathology and/or specialty.

Overall, chiropractic education enables future doctors to use and apply learned knowledge and skills to form diagnosis and to adjust the spine, which is believed to reduce pressure on the nervous system; and, in turn, helps the nervous system to function properly. In doing so, the body is allowed to heal itself naturally. There is a great deal of interest and growth potential in this profession; and for students seeking something extraordinary in learning, a chiropractic education may just be what the doctor ordered.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding a quality chiropractic education, let career training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started!

Plato and Quantum Physics (Part 2) 0

Jun 28, 2008 | Uncategorized

In part 1 of this article we discussed the role of the observer in determining the outcome of measurement or observation, which was the main point of the quoted Plato’s statement. We also mentioned how the mathematical formulation of quantum physics presented some serious difficulty in as much as it came up with results that seemed absurd. A well-known example is the paradox known as Schrodinger’s cat.

Edwin Schrodinger along with Werner Heisenberg was the main architect of quantum mechanics. In 1935 he devised a thought experiment to illustrate the ambiguity associated with the state of a system prior to observation. Imagine a cat placed in a sealed box that also contains a vial of some poisonous gas and a mechanical hammer. The hammer is activated by a radioactive material with a Geiger counter and once activated it can break the vial releasing the gas. The radioactive atoms will disintegrate and the probability of their disintegration can be calculated precisely according to quantum mechanics rules. Suppose that the probability of the hammer being activated after thirty minutes is fifty percent. Then after thirty minutes the probability of the cat being dead is fifty percent but the probability of it’s being alive is also fifty percent.

When the box is opened after an hour the observer will find the cat either dead or alive. But prior to the observation, according to quantum mechanics the cat is fifty percent alive and fifty percent dead, which is physically absurd. In quantum mechanics, though, a system can be in several states each with a certain probability. This is called superposition of states. It is only through observation that the state vector reduction (wave function collapse) occurs. In quantum mechanical measurements it is the human consciousness, which causes the wave function collapse. Thus in Copenhagen interpretation the mathematical formulation had to be supplemented with philosophy in order to make any physical sense.

The question as to what is real and what is unreal belongs to the realm of philosophy. Our perception of the external world is what the mind projects after processing the information presented by the sensory organs. This is the perceived reality while the world outside is the objective reality. But this objective reality is constantly changing and depends on something else that may be called the ultimate reality. The perceived and objective realities represent ‘what is observed’ and the ultimate reality represents ‘what is’.

Plato’s words are simply an alternate expression of the assertion of quantum physics that if there is no observer, there is no observation and no system. What is there is a set of possibilities or potentialities and the set is real in a different sense.

Quantum physics deals with the subatomic world, which is inaccessible to sensory perception. In the macroscopic physical world the role of the observer has to be viewed from a different perspective. When the observer stops looking at an object it does not cease to exist. The star, you were looking at, continues to be in the sky even if you stop looking. But it is not the same star that you looked at before; it, like everything else, is changing constantly. The point here is that in space-time continuum there are no objects but simply events. If an event is not observed, there is no way of ascertaining whether it actually occurred or not. This uncertainty puts the reality of the event in question.

Hurricane Formations and Water Droplet Sizes 0

Jun 27, 2008 | Uncategorized

Perhaps you have heard of all the information of droplet sizes with regards to Hurricane Formations? Then again maybe you have not. Nevertheless, my understanding is that the water droplet size during evaporation of the salt spray allows the surface winds to be curtailed slowing trade winds and therefore allowing the uninhibited circulation and formation of the Tropical Storms Rotation?

Okay now then, here was a thought; Now, what if…. (Yes, I know, here we go again with some wild theory!) Indeed, so what if…. We could use an energy source so that we could disrupt the droplets from attaining the size required to slow down the wind? Then the Hurricane never forms or if a large Tropical Storm forms it cannot reach Hurricane Status. By using directed energy transfer methods and techniques, we can slightly modify the size of water droplets by messing with the ionic bonding during the droplet formation on the wave crests and therefore no large droplets of a given size form, but rather only small mist?

Well, as you can see my knowledge is limited here, but in theory if we change the water droplet size we win. If a Nuclear Powered aircraft carrier went into the tropical depression prior to formation, it has the power requirement to send wave height energy in all directions? Crazy indeed! Yes, I know, here we go again with some wild theory! But let us consider this in Atlantic Hurricane Season 2006.

The Importance of Getting Your Degree 0

Jun 27, 2008 | Uncategorized

For many of us, all we wanted to do was get out of school, and the last thing we wanted to do was sign up for four more years in order to get a degree. Many people, of course, end up regretting the decision not to pursue a degree, but getting that much needed degree can be difficult when there is work and family to be considered.

Fortunately, the choices for getting the degree you need have never been greater, and the value of a college degree has never been higher. A little publicized fact is that the unemployment rate varies greatly according to one’s education, with those with college degrees enjoying an unemployment rate that is less than half of the national average. Those who lack a high school degree have rates of unemployment that are far higher than the national average, so the value of a degree is obvious.

When pursuing a degree, it is important to look around carefully, and to determine the kind of degree that will be most valuable to you, both now and in the future. It is not enough to choose a degree that is applicable to where you are in your current career but to look to the future as well. The world is always changing, and it is a good idea to look to the present for clues to the future. The future will bring many changes, and it is important to choose a degree that will be valuable both now and years down the road.

If you are currently employed, do not forget to ask your Human Resources department if tuition reimbursement is available. With tuition reimbursement programs, you may be able to have your employer pay some or even all of the cost of your degree. Having an employer pay the cost of the degree can certainly make the decision to pursue a degree a great deal easier, and a great deal more cost effective as well.

Whether you pay for your own degree or have an employer pick up the tab, getting a degree can have a profound effect on your earning power and your employability. Why not check out the many choices for getting your degree today?

What is Memory and How You Can Increase Your Memory Power - Part I 0

Jun 27, 2008 | Uncategorized

Memory is defined as the ability to store and receive information. Memory like a filing system involves three processes: information must be entered into the system, stored without deterioration, and recovered when needed.
These three are generally known to psychologists as the three R’s: registration, retention and recall.

Humans have remarkable memories: adults can recall between 20,000 and 100,000 words. Added to this one can learn a foreign language, possess complex skills, carry around all sorts of information.
Vedas of ancient India were passed down by memory. Themistocles was able to recall the 20,000 names of the citizens of Athens.
Xerxes was reputed to be able to recall the names of the 100,000 men in his armies.

Alexander Luria studied the most remarkable memory of Solomon Veniaminoff.
Veniaminoff is a newspaper man. He always reported the proceedings of the conferences from his memory without taking any notes. Luria handed over to him lists of seventy numbers or letters. After one hearing, at a slow pace, he could recite the list forward or backward. Given any letter he would at once name the preceding one. Luria studied him for about thirty years. He gave up his newspaper work and became a professional mnemonist.
There are a number of ways one could improve his/her memory power.
Mnemonic system is one way to remember a series of digits.

When one has to remember a series of digits the most common mnemonic device used is to form a sentence or rhyme in which the number of letters in each word corresponds to the digits in the desired order. There are many aids that have been worked out to store in memory ‘pi’ to a number of places of decimal beyond the usual four places.

May I have a large container of coffee?

In this, the number of letters in each word corresponds to the successive integers in the decimal expansion of pi. (3.1415926)
Sir James Jeans used a sentence in which the value of pi is contained up to 14 decimal places.

How I want a drink, alcoholic of course, after the heavy chapters involving quantum mechanics. (Value of pi: 3.14159265358979)

Mnemonic system when mastered enables one to memorize any series of digits. This system has been developed to a high degree by modern memory experts. By using this system you can remember telephone numbers, vehicle registration numbers, mathematical constants and any important number required to be recalled often.

There are other techniques to improve our memory power which will be the subject of the next article in this series.

Art Needed To Fill Education Gaps 0

Jun 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

Schools are failing miserably even though they won’t admit it. Standardized school tests are designed to grade the achievement of the schools. But while many students are producing work far below their grade level, schools are getting grades that seriously deceive the parents. A school that gets an A on its cumulative standardized school wide test could have a great number of high achievers or a high number of students who were able to show improvement.

That means that a school of students who are averaging below grade level performance could simply raise their achievement levels a grade and the entire school receives an extremely high grade. This is not an accurate portrait of how a school is performing. If all of those students were failing last year and now they are performing just below grade level this year, the improvement is how the grade is calculated. In other words, a high achieving school with above grade level performers looks the same on paper as a failing school that was able to motivate enough students to simply improve.

This problem has many parents looking for answers outside of the school system. Parents are looking for tutors to help their kids understand their homework. Parents are placing their kids into night and summer schools that keep a child’s learning active. But, one solution has proven to be even more effective than all the others. Parents aren’t going off the wall when they look for art workshops to help their students learn.

When a child starts to explore her creative side, she opens herself up to other ways of learning. Ways that start to intertwine themselves across the education curriculum. A student performing low in math will learn how to teach herself, and with that her grades will improve on their own. It’s like a new world becomes accessible to her, doors of reasoning are easily opened.

Art impacts the cognitive abilities in such a way. That’s because art is not repetition and memorization. It forces people to discovery. Solving problems and learning how to learn are the result of exploring artistic expression. Adults have found art to be therapeutic and empowering. Experiencing art is recreational as well as productive. But, the creative process is far more rewarding educationally than memorizing facts and repeating low-level math processes.

With schools failing to give our children what they desperately need, parents are going to have to be educated about the benefits of art to the learning process. Art workshops can fill in the gaps where schools are breaking down. When parents learn that art will greatly benefit their children, art workshops will flourish across the country. Knowing this is coming, wouldn’t you want to learn how to get ahead of the trend and start your own art workshop?

An internationally known artist as well as a mother of six, Rivky Shimon founded rivkysart.com/startacenter.php Rivky’s Art Workshop in Brooklyn, New York. Rivky’s step-by-step method for teaching children how to create and enjoy art has earned high praise from students, teachers and parents alike.

What data is considered for High School Rankings for K-12 general interest? Newsweek Magazine is the most popular publication that ranks public high schools, and most high schools strive for inclusion. Newsweek journalist Jay Mathews devised the formula used by the magazine to determine which schools make the list. It looks at how many students took the Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate &/or Cambridge tests, and divides that number by how many graduating seniors the school has; and that is the standard for determining High School Rankings for K-12 general interest.

Principals are the leaders of the school – they inspire and motivate not only the teachers, but the students themselves. Whether they realize it or not, and it’s safe to say that most do, they are the first factor in determining High School Rankings for K-12 general interest.

In my opinion, principals are the backbone of any school, and influence the entire atmosphere of – both academically and socially. High school principals, indeed principals at all levels, are leading schools that no longer simply focus on the 3 Rs; they have to support and influence honors programs, demonstrate strong leadership and motivation for teachers, support extracurricular clubs and activities, participate in community outreach, discipline students while being sensitive to a teenagers needs. All of these things motivate the principals, who are responsible for High School Rankings for K-12 general interest.

High School Rankings for K-12 general interest is something a high school principal must think about as well. How the school compares to other schools influences the success of the school in several ways. For the most part, the High School Rankings for K-12 general interest influence who comes to the school. A principal who is sensitive to High School Rankings for K-12 general interest faces many challenges, however. The job is a tough one – one that for most is 24/7. Adult Education 0

They used to be referred to as “non-traditional students,” but adult students are the fastest growing group pursuing a college education. The number of students 40 and over increased 235 percent in recent years, according to the Education Resource Institute.

What does this mean for the families of adult co-eds? With most adults’ already hectic schedules, making time for classes and studying is a significant challenge. But there are some ways to prevent chaos from reigning at home and be successful at school.

Schedule time not just for classes, but studying too. You need to designate a time where you can concentrate and hit the books. If your children are older, perhaps you can all study together. Commit to keeping this time for its intended purpose, otherwise you’ll find yourself trying to fit it in while watching late night TV, which probably is not when you’re at your most productive.

Delegate responsibilities. Enlist the help of your spouse and kids in getting household chores done. Don’t feel guilty if you’re eating take out an extra night a week during the semester or your house isn’t always spotless. Learn to prioritize and don’t sweat it if some of the things at the bottom of your list don’t get done.

Cut down on commitments outside of work and school. You need to be practical about the time you have to dedicate to outside activities like volunteering or entertaining. You need to give yourself the amount of time needed in order to be successful at school. Be careful not to over-commit your time.

Get outside assistance. Check with your college or university. Many have support services or personnel to help adult students succeed in their educational goals.

4 Reasons Why You Should Homeschool Your Child 0

Jun 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

A recent survey indicated that nearly 30% of American parents are seriously considering homeschooling their children rather than sending them to school. Home schooling is a different way of education for many parents. It allows children to be educated at home free from the daily school assignments and pressure. It also allows more bonding time between the child and the parent fostering closer relationships.

There are 4 main reasons why you should homeschool your child. They are

1) Academic Results

One of the reasons parents are hesitant to adopt homeschooling is because they are afraid their child’s academic results will suffer. However studies have shown that children who are homeschooling have the same and if not better academic results than those going to traditional schools.

You could also say some of the world’s most famous people were homeschooled. Examples include Benjamin Franklin, Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill and Thomas Edison. Their achievements do not compare less than those who went to school.

Home Schooling allow the parent to cater the study schedule according to the needs of the child. In school, since a teacher has to teach 40 to 50 students at a time, it is quite impossible to cater a specific teaching schedule for each child.

2) Social Reasons

Another important reason why you should homeschool your child is because traditional school do not deal with this aspect of education. Teaching your child to be comfortable with dealing with people.

By introducing your child to church programs and other volunteering programs to help others, it educates the child’s moral values which are just as important as academic results.

Homeschooling also shields the child from bad habits due to peer influence. Examples are smoking, alcoholism, gambling, sex, drugs and violence etc

3) Family Bonding

Since homeschooling allows more time between your child and parents, the family relationship is strengthened and there is more family bonding. The child self-confidence and self-esteem improves. Studies have also shown that homeschooled children values family ties and kinship more.

4) Religious Reasons

Schools have always kept away from religious issues due to its sensitive nature in our country. The schools typically has a neutral stand regarding religion and spirituality. Therefore, most schools do not have any kind of religious education

Homeschooling does not have that limitation. Parents can pass on their religious values to their children. This has a great impact on the spiritual development of the child.
