Your Online Degree Options At Home And Abroad - The UK 0

May 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

If you are considering taking a degree or college course online then you are leaving yourself open to a world of possibilities, literally. One of the main advantages of taking a degree online to further your education is that you are not limited as to what courses you can choose from. If you attend a university or college, you have to select an option from the specific courses they offer. If you choose to take an online course then you can apply to schools all over the world. Distance learning courses in the UK, for example, are a viable option if you so wish.

Distance learning courses in the UK are very different to those offered in the USA. The content may be roughly the same, but the course layout is likely to be very different. Most classes actually go on for an entire academic year, that is to say September to June, and there is very rarely a summer school option. Distance learning courses in the UK do not offer semester long classes. This does help to keep an individual student focused on the subject matter and generally allows more time to produce assignments, but does not give the same diversity or flexibility. Taking the autumn semester but not the spring would make no difference in the USA, but it would mean dropping out half way through a course in the UK.

On the positive side, distance learning courses in the UK may add to the acceptance of online degrees by employers. If you choose to take an online course that originates outside of your home country then there is justification as to why you did not actually attend the campus itself. You get the benefit of learning in a different culture but avoid the expense of moving to it. UK degrees are also highly regarded in the USA as a result of traditional educational programs there that do not offer the same flexibility as American degrees. To achieve a UK degree demonstrates discipline and ability to a greater extent because degrees are graded as a single entity rather than as individual classes followed by graduation. Acceptance of online degrees completed in the UK is therefore higher than one completed in the USA.

If you onlineuniversitydegreehelp.com/ chose to follow

distance learning in the UK, be prepared to put in a lot of hard work and effort. It can take some time to get used to the different course content and program structure, but it is ultimately worth it. Universities such as Liverpool, Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham and Lancaster all have amazing reputations and that alone will often gain acceptance of online degrees taken there. Obviously you will also learn a lot about the subject and the educational culture there. If it is a path you choose to follow then you will not regret your decision.

How to Choose a Legitimate Online Education Institution? 0

May 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

Online education is one of the best things that the internet has to offer. Thanks to online education, people who would have never thought they could get the education they have always dreamed of are now achieving their educational goals. Whether it is working adults, advanced students or senior citizens, people everywhere are singing praises about online education. However, it is extremely important to realize that not all online education is the same. Although there are lots of very good online education institutions, there are plenty (if not just as many) online education programs (which are nothing more than scams) trying to take some of your money. In order to avoid wasting your time and money on a scam, it is important to understand how to choose a legitimate online education institution. By educating yourself on what to look for in a legitimate online education institution, you will be able to easily discern online programs which will truly help you get ahead in life from those that will do nothing more than set you back a couple months and a few hundred dollars.

When evaluating online education institutions, the most important thing you should look for is accreditation. If an online institution, it will be accredited. If it is not legitimate and is actually nothing more than a scam, then it will not be accredited. Although it seems overly simple, it really is that simple to identify what is good and what is not. If an institution is accredited, it will not be difficult to find out. Because of the prevalence of scams on the internet, almost every speedydegrees.com/ accredited degrees program will proudly display it on the home page of their web site. These programs know that they are in a field filled with frauds, so they want to make sure that you can trust that they are legitimate. If you have to search around an online education institution’s web site to determine whether they are accredited or not, then ninety-nine percent of the time they are not. Although it is possible (even though rare) for an institution to fake the fact that they are accredited, it is the best starting point to weed out potential frauds.

Once you have found a program that is accredited, the next step in your evaluation should be non-biased, third-party reviews. This means you need to find reviews of the speedydegrees.com/ online degrees institution other than those proudly displayed on their web site. This can easily be accomplished by doing a little searching on Google or Yahoo. Honest reviews from individuals who have already had experience with that institution are a great way to not only determine if they are legitimate, but to also get a feel for what the program is really like. Although the institution’s can say whatever great things they want about themselves, without reading reviews from other real people, you will never truly get a feel for what the program has to offer and entails.

The finally step in evaluating an institution is common sense. In reality, this step should be employed throughout the entire evaluation process. If a program seems to good to be true or raises a flag in your head, then you should avoid that specific institution. Nine times out of ten, your gut feeling will lead you in the right direction, so do not be afraid to follow your common sense. By following the steps listed above, you will not only be able to weed out the bad online programs, but you will also be able to select that one that best fits your situation, needs and goals.

Controls - The Building Blocks of Automation 0

May 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

As man learns to make machines that no longer rely on animal
or human power, he finds that he has to develop some means to
manage and control them. Powerful machines let loosed by
themselves will create havoc and destruction.

Control systems have been developed for machines or processes
so as to reduce the chances of failure and to provide the
required results.

Basically, there are open loop control systems and close loop
control systems.

Open loop systems are those where the controller action is not
related to the final result. This means that there is no
feedback to the controller to adjust the control action. A
simple example is when you fill up a tank using a garden hose.
As long as the tap is opened, the water will flow. The height
of the water in the tank will not make the tap close.

However, when you see the tank becoming full and decide to
close the tap, you are adding the element of feedback to the
loop. It then becomes a closed loop. But it is a human
controlled closed loop.

Closed loop systems use feedback from the final result to
adjust the control action accordingly.

But how would you like to stand in one position, watch the
process going on and operate valves, or switches according to
the conditions you want? This is very tiring, isn’t it?

Moreover, human beings are prone to fatigue, boredom, and
misjudgment. Manual control works very well only if the speed
of the response is very slow, and the result is not very
critical or important. Human controlled systems can become
very unreliable.

Machines are made to replace humans in most control systems
today.

The basic feature of any control system consists of 4 elements.
These are the measuring element, the controlling element, the
set value, and the correcting element.

The measuring element provides a means of detection/measurement
of the conditions required. This is the “eyes” or “ears” (or
other senses) of the system.

The controlling element is the place where all the decisions on
what actions to take are being made. It can be considered the
“brains” of the system. It must make decisions based on certain
guidelines or values required. The set values are inputted into
the system by humans.

The correcting element is where the correction to the process
is done. It can be considered like the “hands” or “feet” of the
system. It must take certain physical actions to bring the
processes back to the set value.

The Rise of High School Drug Testing 0

May 26, 2008 | Uncategorized

School districts, much like employers, have begun to implement drug-testing policies. Many school officials cite statistics relating to school performance and safety among drug users. Whether the drug testing acts as a method of screening students or as a method of deterrence from drug use, the popularity of this practice has increased significantly in many school systems.

Supporters of high school drug testing often cite governmental statistics. These numbers show a steadily growing number of teenage drug users each year. Those in favor of mandatory drug testing suggest that such measures may be effective in keeping teenagers from using drugs. Fear of facing expulsion from school or punishment from their parents may be a good deterrent for high school students.

Although some officials would like to see a policy of mandatory testing of every student, most drug screenings require parental consent. Most schools require that there be probable cause or reasonable suspicion before requesting a drug test. If a teacher notices a student who appears aloof or has red and glassy eyes, he or she may request a drug test.

More common than random or suspicion-based high school drug testing is the testing of high school athletes. In nearly every school district, students who wish to compete in school sports must sign a release for a drug screening. This has become common in schools because of statistics showing that male high school athletes have a greater risk of drug abuse. These facts, accompanied by the fear of injury during competitions, have fueled the debate and existence of drug testing among athletes.

Opponents of drug testing claim that it is a violation of privacy to require students to take drug tests. Privacy advocates suggest that with requests for mandatory drug screenings comes the potential for abuse. A few cases have existed in which a student was randomly searched and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. In these cases, the students were either suspended from school or sent to drug rehabilitation centers; it is often the case that these students were productive in school and were not necessarily considered to be problem students. Regardless of these isolated cases, many school districts defend the benefits of drug testing. Although formal statistics do not prove the theory, many educational experts believe that high school drug testing deters students from using or abusing illegal drugs.

The Really Great Depression 0

May 25, 2008 | Uncategorized

For almost 10 years, from 1929 to the late into the 1930’s the word went into a massive economic decline. The entire world was hit with the decline, however the most industrialized nations were hit the hardest. These nations included the United States, Europe and Japan. Due to the nature of the depression economies that were built around industry were hit the hardest.

Although every industry was during these years, industries such as agriculture were hit less hard due to the fact that they remain basic necessities no matter what the economic situation of an economy is. This doesn’t speak true however for industries such as construction which come to a complete halt when there is no economic activity.

The two main causes for the great depression was the vast unequal distribution of wealth during the 1920’s as well as extensive stock market speculation that started to take prominence the the later 1920’s. Imbalance in wealth creates a largely unstable economy, and this resulted in several parts of the world. During the 1920’s because it was the biggest boom the United States economy had ever seen, the stock market, despite speculation, remained artificially high. Once the legs fell out from underneith the stock market, the unstable economy (created from the maldistribution of wealth) made the entire economy of America to collapse.

America right now looks to be headed in the same direction once again: the gap is growing between the rich and poor, and we are again in a major bust where we the majority of us are living beyond our means. Will history repeat itself? Are we smart enough to avoid another great depression? These are both questions that we will probably see answered in our lifetime.

Why You Should Consider Taking An Online Nursing Class 0

May 25, 2008 | Uncategorized

Are you asking why you should consider taking an online nursing class? There are many reasons for taking your nursing degree online. Let’s face it. Today, there are so many people that are busy with all that life throws at them that there is just not enough time in the world for a spending four years dedicated to nothing more than living on a college campus and studying.

So, if you are wondering why you should consider taking an online nursing class, first ask yourself what you do not like or can not have in a traditional school. Do you have trouble excelling in a traditional classroom? Then online learning may be the best bet for you. You can work at your own pass at your degree and obtain the hours of study that fit your needs. Sure, 4am may not be the best time for others to hold class, but for you, it is the perfect time.

There are plenty of other reasons as well. Consider your goals. If you would like to have a bachelor degree in nursing, you traditionally would need to dedicate about four years of full time attendance. With online degree programs, you are likely to cut this down considerably, if you would like to. On the other hand, you will be able to lengthen that time if you need something a bit more flexible and part time. The time frame for you to finish schooling is more up to you than it would be in a traditional school environment.

Another benefit to think about is the cost. The cost of a traditional school is much higher, especially figuring in room and board costs. The online school that is accredited for teaching the same curriculum as your traditional school can often cost a fraction of the cost with all the same abilities and benefits for financial aid.

If you are still asking why you should consider taking an online nursing class, then you are missing out. Consider what they have to do for you and what you can become if you do take this step.

Home Schooling Resources Are Readily Available 0

May 25, 2008 | Uncategorized

If you are an experienced home school instructor, one thing you have learned is to always be on the lookout for the most updated home schooling resources available. The good news is that updated information and materials can easily be found at literally thousands of locations on the Internet, alone.

A quick search on Google using the keyword phrase “homeschooling resources” will result in 1,290,000 available pages of information. Information on every home schooling related topic imaginable, for every age group and grade level.

Whatever your needs may be, there will be no problem finding the exact teaching aids to meet your requirements. There are an abundance of websites offering low-cost, and in some cases, free lesson planning materials and worksheets. You will find online schools, and private vendors offering high-quality curriculum packages that can fit any budget.

If you are new to home schooling, and even if you’re not, pay a visit your local library. There have been a great many very informative books written on homeschooling. Combine the information and guidance of these books with the available materials on the subjects you plan to teach, and you will find yourself well on your way to putting together an excellent curriculum package. Some of the publications in your library will include worksheets, blank maps and other home teaching resources that are easily duplicated at your local copy store.

Online and off line home school discussion groups or forums will introduce you to other families who are new to homeschooling and who are veterans of home schooling. These groups are a great place to get first-hand answers to your home schooling questions. It is also worth spending a little time searching through some online auction sites. You can find just about every home teaching resource you’ll ever need for a fraction of the original cost.

Extra-curricular activities are also a valuable resource when schooling at home. Check with your local school district. By law, homeschooled children are allowed to participate in activities such as joining the school band, possibly participating in sports, and even many of the school clubs such as drama. While you may have to provide the transportation, it’s well worth it to your home schooled student.

Do a little research, compare and check for quality, and you will have no trouble finding all the homeschooling resources you will need.

SAT For The Homeschooled 0

May 25, 2008 | Uncategorized

Are you a homeschooled student, really have not taken standardized tests, and are a little leery of how well you can do? You should know the information below because it can help you with a little sanity to the process.

First, take a deep breath. Homeschooled students tend to do better than public schooled students (as well they should; fewer students should achieve better results) on the SAT. This is big. There are a number of reasons why this is true and much is related to the typically larger amount of reading that homeschoolers do, but also to the entire process. Public schools rarely have money for field trips. All good homeschooling families know and take advantage of the library, museums, and much more. This interacting with the learning world around them is really powerful.

Second, consider taking the PSAT in what would be your junior year of high school. This can really help you focus on those areas where you might need extra help. In some states you are allowed to take it at your local public high school, but you will want to check with them and with the College Board to make sure of the rules for your unique situation.

Third, consider using one of the many study guides out there. However, here is the caveat: Only if this is a way that you learn. Some people know and appreciate study guides, and some have no interest whatsoever. Know which kind you are can be helpful for more than just the SATs.

Fourth, there are always, in most big cities, programs by Kaplan and others, that teach you how to do better on the test. While I am not necessarily a big fan of shelling out large amounts of money for test preparation, these programs do what they purport to do and that is to raise your test score. It is no mistake that the typical teacher for one of these courses did very well when they took it.

And finally, fifth, while it is anethema to homeschoolers, there are some states that allow you to sit for the state proficiency tests. Clearly, this is your choice, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing to have sat through one standardized test in twelve years of education. The insider knowledge you gain can be invaluable. Now, is that insider information any different than if you you took one of the practice tests in the back of a test prep book? My instincts say yes because it is done in a true testing environment. However, choose whatever fits into your homeschooling philosophy.

The biggest point is that you already have many of the skills precisely because you have been homeschooled and have been taught in a certain way. Now you may just need the application part of the equation.

Taking Out a Swarm With a Directional Sound Wave 0

May 24, 2008 | Uncategorized

Can we take out a swarm of insects with a directional sound wave? Can we cause the wings to shatter like a wine glass with powerful sound waves? Well this is one idea which has been shot down now in an online think tank. The concept was sent to a professional engineer who confirmed that it probably is not feasible.

Previously I had thought that the wings on insects bend a lot and probably wound not be able to be latterly ripped by a sound wave. However one researchers contacted a professional engineer friend of his and then reported back the think tank the obvious;

“I sent the story to a professional engineer friend of mine and he says the wings are so flexible that spending time trying to degrade them or crack the drum head part of the wing with sound wave seems a distant pursuit, given the other concept with which to meditate.”

I say to that Obviously and I told you so. Now if you are trying to impress me with “professional engineers” I will have none of that, because this is such a blatantly obvious answer to a question, I say “No shit Sherlock!” For anyone to impress me, well let’s just say they will have to be not just a professional engineer, because to me that is like a professional lawyer, professional politician or professional scum scraper at the sewer treatment plant.

Glad we got that out of the way. “Professional Engineer?” Yah and these professional engineers are why nothing I ever buy ever works? Professional engineers. I think we ought to hold these professional engineers accountable for the crap they produce and design. So, what does professional mean, they wear a tie to work to impress superiors? Please spare me the BS. I TOLD YOU SO.

There are very few super non-linear thinking engineers out there and if they insist on being called professional run, don’t walk.

Now then there are other methods to cut down a swarm, such as THEL laser or a portable THEL or a rapid-fire system. Putting a round every square inch or a round, which gets in with the swarm and circulates within it and spills gas that chokes them; or corrosive and causes immediate pain. Many other possibilities if you choose to depart from sound. But for steering them, I like sound the best and that was my original comments prior to your inquiry on locust plagues.

Steer them, but do not try to kill them. And as far as bees go, we need them, because we have butterfly issues and need the pollination more than the very few incidents they actually are causing for people. Perhaps education is smarter in that case, educate people not to piss them off. Mosquitoes, that is a whole other story, we need them to limit their populations. Let’s consider all this in 2006.

Education in Canada 0

May 24, 2008 | Uncategorized

The average earnings of the residents of Ontario are the highest in Canada. Ontario also spends the most money on post-secondary education, has the greatest number of residents of any province with post-secondary education, and the largest work force in education and related fields. Other provinces that lack the educational investment of Ontario have a lower average salary. Several factors affect the average salary, so in order to minimize variation, only Canadian provinces are compared to each- other. As such, three major factors were identified through analyzing statistical information. Therefore, spending on post-secondary education, the number of residents with a diploma or degree and the work force in the field of education directly affect the average yearly earnings of the residents of a Canadian province.

Ontario is the larges province in Canada and also the biggest spender on education. Ontario spends almost as much as Quebec and B.C. combined. However, Ontario is also the most populous province in Canada and as such, the ratio of money spent to residents is not much different than any of the other provinces. In Ontario’s case, the government spends less per capita on education, yet the statistics show that it yields a greater return economically. The number of residents of a province with post-secondary education also affects the average salary because businesses are more likely to locate their corporate offices or production facilities in an area where they can easily secure highly educated employees.

Ontario’s achievements in efficiency and also its ability to produce and maintain the highest number of post-secondary residents out of all of Canada’s provinces is in no small part due to the educational work force, which includes support staff, teachers and professors, administration and other workers too numerous to mention.

Investing in education has shown to improve a province, and in turn a country not only in its cultural wealth but its monetary wealth as well. By having a properly funded system with quality educators as well as creating a tradition of education, the population of a country can obtain higher wages. Introduction:
