Halloween Takes A Hit; Ghosts And Vampires Are Now Scientifically Impossible 0

Jan 31, 2008 | Uncategorized

As if Halloween isn’t in big enough trouble because of the ability of the everyday world to spook us, two of the fright night’s favorite ways of horrifying children have now been declared scientific impossibilities.

A scientist, determined to disabuse the public of its belief in the preternatural, has proved mathematically that vampires can’t exist. Using a calculator, he determined that if a vampire sucked one person’s blood each month and, in the process, turned every victim into a vampire, who in turn began to bite other people at the same rate, after just a few years the entire human race would be vampires. To be exact, he started on January 1, 1600 with just one vampire and the current human population of 537 million. According to his calculator, by July 1602 normal folks would have vanished. Since that doesn’t appear to be the case, the existence of even one vampire has apparently had the stake put in its heart.

Speaking about vanished, the same scientist, named Costas Efthimiou, attests that ghosts are an impossibility. Why? Efthimiou (don’t you just love this guy’s fit-for-a-monster name?) has determined that ghosts actually violate Newton’s law of action and reaction. How so? If ghosts walk, their feet apply force to the floor, which means they’re made of something. But, if they can go through walls, they have to be without substance.

What? Ghosts who want entrance to your home are now reduced to showing up at your door, like ordinary trick or treaters? How frightening is that, especially since you can always duck behind the couch and pretend no one is there?

Of course, if Efthimiou is right, you’d be right. Nothing could be there. It must have been the wind.

Civil War - Timeline Of US Civil War - 1863 0

Jan 31, 2008 | Uncategorized

In this next installment of the US Civil War we’re going to take a look at the year 1863. This was the year that that Lincoln freed the slaves. It was probably one of the most important years of the war from a psychological standpoint and contained some of the most important legislature and most famous battles of the entire war.

In January of 1863 congress was slowly moving towards abolition of slavery. Lincoln eventually realized that this was unavoidable. On January 1, 1863 he issues the Emancipation Proclomation. This proclomation declared that all slaves in the areas that were rebelling against the Union were now free in the eyes of the US government.

In March of 1863 was the first conscription act. This act was made because of the problem of getting men to sign up for the war effort. The act made it so that any man between the ages of 20 and 45 could be called into service. This act prompted many riots, especially in the poorer areas of the country.

In May of 1863 was the Battle of Chancellorsville. The battle actually began on April 27 when General Hooker crossed the Rappahannock River to begin his attack against General Lee. But Lee outsmarted them and divided up his forces, attacking Hooker in three places. He nearly wiped out his whole army. Hooker eventually retreated back over the river. Even though Lee was victorious, it was his most costly victory as far as casualties went.

Also in that same month was the Vicksburg Campaign. This was actually a series of battles where General Grant won a number of them. On May 22, 1863, Grant waged a major siege on the city of Vicksburg, Mississippi, leading to the surrender of General Pemberton and the capture of 30,000 men. After these victories, the Confederacy was literally split in two.

In June and July of 1863 was probably the most famous campaign of the entire Civil War, that of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was a major blunder for the Union forces. Even though they won the battle itself, not following Lee into Virginia after his retreat was a big mistake. Had they done so, the war itself might have ended a lot sooner. Shortly after this battle, in November of that year, Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address.

In September of 1863 was the Battle of Chickamauga. The battle itself took place on September 19, 1863. Union and Confederate forces met right on the Tennessee-Georgia border. The Union forces retreated and the Confederacy retained control of the area.

In November of 1863 was the Battle of Chattanooga. This was a major part of the war for the Union army. It was their victory there that paved the way for General Sherman’s march through Atlanta.

In December of 1863 was the Seige On Knoxville. This is where General Burnside bravely fought off the Confederacy while he sought refuge in Knoxville. General Longstreet, who led the assault against Burnside, eventually withdrew his army on December 3.

In our next installment we look at the year 1864.

Personal Support Worker - A Great Career Opportunity 0

Jan 31, 2008 | Uncategorized

Support workers provide services to people who need help with their daily needs. You will provide these services in facilities and within the community. Supervised by a nurse or other professional, you are a vital part of a health care team. Legislation, employer’s policies, and the person’s condition influence how you function and how much supervision you will need. Once you gain the required experience, you will find that you are able to adapt your care depending on the setting and situations that arise.

Ultimately, the goal of the support work is to improve the individuals overall quality of life. Care needs to be provided in a kind, sensitivity, and understanding manner. While tending to the person’s physical needs, you can also help to relieve loneliness, provide comfort, encourage independence, and promote the person’s self-image. Your service helps people in their homes remain independent. You should always conduct yourself in a manner that let’s the individual know that you care for them and about them. You will make a positive difference in people’s lives!

Now, let’s take a look at where you’ll be performing your tasks as a personal support worker. There are two accepted groupings of locations, the first being facility-based and second, community based. To be listed as a Facility-based workplace, a location must provide accommodations, health & support services. There are several different types of facilities, including hospitals and long-term care (retirement) homes. Community-based workplaces include locations within the community where health care and services are provided, but where overnight are not necessary. The most common of these settings would be a person’s home.

Obtaining certification to become a Personal Support Worker can follow one of two paths. The first being a traditional educational institution such as a College or University and the second being a specialized educational institution, such as a local learning center (for example, a continuing educational center at a local high school). The government of each province creates a course outline & standard that each institution must adhere to.

The wages that a Personal Support Worker can expect to earn can differ from province to province, city to city, and from a unionized to a non-unionized workplace. CUPE (Canadian Union of Public Employees) states that the average wage for a Canadian unionized Support Worker is $14.65 and a non-unionized worker averages $13.42 per hour.

Certify Your Facility Against ANSI-ESD S20.20 Standard 0

Jan 31, 2008 | Uncategorized

ESD Association (ESDA) first established ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard in year 1999.
ANSI/ESD S20.20 is a document that provides guidance to set up an ESD control program that protects ESD sensitive items with sensitivity threshold level of 100Volt or greater HBM model.

The emergence of this ANSI/ESD S20.20 has reduced the problems faced by many companies especially contract manufacturers that have many customers with different ESD plans.
When it comes to static control, ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard allows organisation to speak a common language in all parts of the world.

Ron Gibson from Celectica Inc and John Kinnear from IBM are the well known ANSI/ESD S20.20 training gurus, actively training ISO 9000 registrars on this standard the following year. By end 2001, DNV, QMI and BSI were the ISO registrars available for certifying organisation on this standard.

Celestica Inc was the first facility in the world to be audited and certified against ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard.
This ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard can be applied in all activities that involved in handling ESD sensitive items. So far, there are many facilities that are already certified by the authorized ISO registrars including high tech-industry like Dongguan Wafer semiconductor.

This ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard outlines the requirements that to be followed to ensure continuous ESD protection on the ESDS items produced or handled by the organisations.

The ESD control program plan contains two sections: Administrative requirement section and Technical requirement section.

The Administrative section includes the Plan, Training and Compliance Verification.
The Technical section covers requirements for Grounding/Bonding, Personnel grounding, Packaging, Protected area, Handling, Equipment and Marking.

Requirements and guidance provided by the ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard help
organisations in setting up their ESD Control program.
Some tailoring and adjustment to the requirements and the limits are required when handling more sensitive ESD products.

Implementing ANSI/ESD S20.20 program in a facility definitely contributes to the bottom line of the organisation. Products are not only protected from ESD damage, it will also increases customer confidence.

Choosing Nursing Review Centers 0

Jan 30, 2008 | Uncategorized

Selecting the best review center is like choosing the best answer in a board exam question. Almost all choices appear to be correct but only one is the best answer. So how exactly does one arrive at the best decision? Use the nursing process!

Step 1 - ASSESSMENT

Listen to the presentation of each review center. Your school will normally schedule a date where review centers are given equal opportunities to make a sales pitch. Take down notes. Make a list of the good points of each review center. This will help you narrow down your choices.

Ask questions. Find out the track record of review centers as shown by their passing rate in past board examinations. Inquire as to the number of review hours and the kind of materials they use in their review. Scrutinize their roster of lecturers.

Visit the actual review site. The environment should be conducive for learning. Classroom size is important as well as the number of reviewees per class. The relationship of reviewees should be inversely proportional to the classroom size. This means bigger classrooms with fewer reviewees is better. Facilities such as library, audio-video equipment, and computers are major considerations too.

Examine the packages being offered by each review center and its corresponding costs.

Ask people you know about their experience with each review center.

Step 2 - ANALYSIS / DIAGNOSIS

Make a decision based on the information you have gathered. Your decision should be based on YOUR own review needs as assessed by you and NOT by the choice of your friends or anyone else.

Step 3 - PLANNING / GOAL SETTING

Planning is key. Set review goals. Most review centers conduct diagnostic exams on the first few days of formal review to assess your areas of weakness. Use this as your gauge for evaluating the effectiveness of the review program you enrolled with.

Most review centers’ review program are divided in phases. Find out if you can enlist for the first phase of review only. This is to avoid being tied up with the review center should you feel that the review program and approach is not effective for you.

Step 4 - IMPLEMENTATION / INTERVENTION

This is mostly on you. Make sure you adhere to your review program and do your part. Learning is not one way. No review center will be good enough and a good review program will be ineffective and futile if you don’t study.

Step 5 - EVALUATION

When the first phase of the review is complete, most often than not, the review center will conduct post-test assessment. This will be a good indicator if the review program is effective. If you feel that you have done your part and yet the review program is insufficient, then try to venture into other review centers.

At the end of the day, it is NOT the review centers that will ensure your success in the board examination. It is your OWN perseverance, discipline, and hardwork that will determine your success in your quest to become a professional nurse endowed with knowledge, skills, and the right attitude.

Right Brain, Left Brain 0

Jan 30, 2008 | Uncategorized

The right brain controls the left side of the body and the left brain controls the right side of the body. The right brain is the more creative or emotional hemisphere and the left brain is the analytical and judgmental hemisphere. Anything that is new or not familiar to an individual is right brain dominant. Anything that is familiar is left brain dominant.

Along with right and left brain there are different parts of the brain. The frontal lobe controls your personality, the temporal lobe deals with short and long term memory, the parietal lobe is the lobe of the hand, and the occipital lobe, the very back part of the head, controls vision.

There are specific activities that may stimulate the right or left brain.

Activities that stimulate the left brain are solving crossword or word search puzzles, performance of learned tasks, language usage, both comprehensive and expressive, analytical information, problem solving, and recalling new information. Geometric or spatial memory, hand gestures, writing one’s name, classifications of pictures or words into categories, recalling complex narratives, recognizing someone you have met, and name recognition are also all left brain activities.

Activities that stimulate the right brain are emotional issues, the creative process, recalling memorized lists, any unfamiliar event or activity, and holding the attention span. Seeing or feeling different sizes, seeing different colors, attention exercises involving timing, seeing unfamiliar faces, and meeting someone new also stimulate the right brain..

You are not dead until your brain is dead. Your brain needs two things to survive: fuel and activation. Fuel comes in the form of oxygen and glucose. Glucose comes from the food you eat, and oxygen comes from the air you breathe. The normal inspiration/expiration ratio should be exhalation twice as long as inhalation. That is to say - breathe out twice as long as you breathe in.

There are also specific treatment modalities that a clinician may utilize to increase function or activation of the right or left brain. One example is big letters made up of small letters. If you look at the small letters you will fire right cerebellum to left brain. If you look at the big letters you will fire left cerebellum to right brain.

Auditory stimulation (listening to nature sounds, clicks of a metronome, or Mozart in a major key) in the left ear comes up through the brain stem over to the right brain and vice versa for the right ear.

Visual stimulation from the left side in a checkerboard pattern using different colors comes up through the optic pathway to the brain stem and up to the right brain. The T.E.N.S. unit set at subthreshold stimulates large diameter nerves which fire up to the cerebellum and to the opposite brain.

Proof that Feeding Alligators is Dumb!! 0

Jan 30, 2008 | Uncategorized

I had recently written an article about ways to help keep alligators afraid of humans and avoid attack. The best way to lower an alligators fear of man is by feeding it. This makes them equate humans to food. Their natural behaviour would usually be to stay away from humans due to their natural fear of us, especially when they are younger and smaller. By feeding them though the exact opposite happens, they will now approach us instead of keeping their distance. This not only endangers the person bright enough to feed the animal, but endangers any othe person for whatever reason it is may come in some kind of close contace with them. This is the reason Florida as has made it illegal to feed alligators.

A few days ago a Palm Bay resident feeding a 3 foot alligator ended up with one nasty bite on her hand. Danielle Rivera, 25, was visiting Manatee Point with her 3 year old son and her mother. This place is very frequented by people who want to feed fish and watch manatees. Out of nowhere Danielle got a bright idea to feed an alligator and not only feed it, but feed it by hand. She tryed feeding the small gator bread, luckily for her it was only small. She claims “I didn’t know he would lunge out of the water like that”, and had no idea that in Florida it is also against the law.

So please to avoid not only possibly losing your life, but also to not get arrested DO NOT FEED ALLIGATORS. Especially by hand they are dangerous wild animals, not a house cat.

Alternative Energy Facts. 0

Jan 30, 2008 | Uncategorized

The basics about alternative energy.

The alternative energies that most money has been invested in so far are solar and wind energy. One of the reasons that these energy sources are so popular is because of the availability of the fuels and the amount of research already conducted into their viability and possible uses. Solar power is probably the most effective and available energy that homeowners can use to help do their bit for the renewable energy cause. Photovoltaic tiles are easily and quickly installed on the roof, in the garden, on the shed or just about anywhere that you have a little spare room; and they aren’t the eye sores that they once were. Solar panels can be used to heat water, your house or your pool or for providing your entire house with electricity. They are without doubt the easiest way for you to help protect the environment.

Around the world.

The 1980s saw enough wind and solar power sources installed in California alone to power over 10 million homes but that’s still a small drop in the ocean. Nearly 80% of the fossil fuel reserves in the world are coal, but coal mining is decreasing with every day that passes, and not because of a lack of resource but because of the cost of extraction. These fossil fuels only form naturally and they take millions and millions of years to reform; this means that when we’ve run out of fossil fuels we can’t just wait for more to appear, we need to act now to find sustainable, ecologically friendly renewable energy sources.

Cleaner Fossil Fuels.

Even if we were to find a sustainable amount of fossil fuels it still has diverse effects on the world we live in. The burning of fossil fuels has been proven to be directly responsible for the phenomenon of global warming, which scientists believe will eventually kill all vegetation on this planet. However, there are new technologies being developed that enable us to remove 99% of the side effects associated with burning fossil fuels and safely turning them into power. Regrettably though, this simply isn’t an option.

The way forward.

The fact is that whether we safely produce energy using fossil fuels or not, it simply isn’t going to be an option for much longer. Future generations aren’t going to be offered the luxury of debating this issue, because without research now it is highly probably that the world will run out of fossil fuels long before we come up with a workable alternative. A number of worldwide committees have been set up in order to discuss and implement the best way forward regarding energy consumption; because of this many countries finally began to take the problem seriously. Many billions of dollars are being thrown into funding research and production of the various fossil fuels as well as trying to discover new sources of alternative energy.

Alchemy: What Was It and Can We Still Use It? 0

Jan 29, 2008 | Uncategorized

Alchemy, in its essence, implies changing the nature of things. In the lore of some societies, this came to mean a lot over the course of time.

Birds were thought to be the symbols of alchemy. Phoenix, Raven, White Swan, Peacock, and Pelican corresponded to an inner experience and inner dimension of spiritual being. The alchemist or the poet who observed the birds saw an image of the human soul going through a development that freed it from the earthly things, because the birds took flight between the physical and spiritual worlds and, if they landed, they landed on the Tree of Life or the Stone of wisdom.

William Blake wrote:
“How do you know but ev’ry Bird that cuts the airy way,
Is an immense world of delight, clos’d by your senses five?”

In most traditions, the language of birds is the tongue of Secret Wisdom, through myth and symbolism, not only in Alchemy but also in Kabbalah, Astrology, and Tarot.

Alchemy was considered to be as deplorable as black magic at one time; yet, at another time and place, it was lauded as being the highest form of science bordering with art for being the science through which the baser materials like copper were changed into gold and silver.

I remember from the time when I was into the Middle Eastern lore that there was this saint who could change dry leaves into gold through a formula given to him by the Creator. Of course, being a saint, he didn’t need the gold, so he changed the gold back to dried leaves in one night. This is a parable, as the human imagination has no bounds.

The earliest form of alchemy existed in old Egypt where magic ruled. Ancient Egyptians believed that magical powers existed in metallic things, alloys, and the like. Chances are, the whole thing was based on Hermes Trismegistus’s art from the ancient Greek times. The seed or at least the hope of alchemy subsisted also inside Europe’s bronze working classes and in old Byzantium. Over the centuries, numerous publications came to existence requiring scholarly inquisition on the art (or science) of alchemy.

If alchemy’s first obsession was gold, the second was to discover a potion that would prolong life, or better yet, that would make man immortal. The third obsession of alchemy has been the manufacture of human life, artificially of course, which is scary. I imagine it ending up like the dry leaves parable.

Transmutation of metals could supposedly be accomplished by the Philosopher’s Stone, which had been associated with the Salt of the World, The Elixir and the like. In its conceptual form the stone reflected higher wisdom and intelligence.

The entire process of alchemy was based upon the research and examination of nature and the way in which it operated, how the metals became metals inside the depths of the earth, and how sulphur and mercury acted upon them.

According to alchemists, nature was divided into male and female and also into four regions: dry, cold, warm, and moist. Ayurveda healing comes to mind; although, I don’t recall if or how the two can be connected. Into all this study, of course, went the alchemist’s character, which had to be truthful.

Someday, all these things that alchemy wanted to accomplish may be possible through science. But what then? What if we changed everything into gold? Remember the story of Midas?

What if the thing we changed with good intentions through alchemy or science resulted in calamity? I have a feeling that in order to dare change the base or nature of anything, one has to know everything in its entirety. Possibly, that privilege belongs only to the Creator.

One may use alchemy in another way, however. A soft word, a friendly smile, a holding of a hand, and our intent for world peace can be the best Philosopher’s Stone we can use. Maybe this way, we won’t have to change the essence of anything and anyone, but we may help them find a full meaning inside their basic framework.

Science and a Young Earth 0

Jan 29, 2008 | Uncategorized

Haven’t geologists proved from scientific dating methods that the earth is 4.5 billion years old? Doesn’t astronomy prove that the universe must, at least, be billions of years old since it would have required billions of years for light from the nearest stars to reach the earth? Don’t all qualified scientists, including geologists, believe in Darwinian evolution and a billions of years old earth and universe? The simple answer is “no”.

Both evolutionists and creationists have certain built-in assumptions in interpreting and using scientific data when it comes to the earth’s age. The issue many times comes down to which assumptions are more reasonable. Dating rocks is not a hard (no pun intended) science.

For example, many times one radiometric dating method will give a vast difference in age from another radiometric dating method used on dating the same rock! Radiometric dating methods have also been severely faulty when tested with the actual historical age of certain rock. For example, Hawaiian lava flows that were known to be no more than two centuries old were dated by the potassium-argon method to be up to three billion years old! (Science 141 [1963]: 634).

The reason for these huge discrepancies is that these methods are based on assumptions that no major changes have occurred in the earth’s atmosphere in the past which could have affected the initial amounts and even the rates of decay of the substances involved (Industrial Research 14 [1972]: 15). If, for example, a world-wide flood the Bible describes in Genesis had actually occurred then it would have, indeed, altered the initial conditions so as to make radiometric dating less than an exact science, to say the least. The Carbon -14 dating method has been known to have fifty percent accuracy, but it is only accurate up to thousands (not millions or billions) of years and can only be used on things that were once living.

Complicated as the subject of the earth’s age may be, a main reason for why evolutionists believe the earth is many millions of years old is because of their belief concerning how the fossil layers were deposited. What one believes about the deposition of the fossils in the Earth will, indeed, determine one’s view of the earth’s age.

Fossils of animals, for example, are formed when animals are buried quickly and under tremendous pressure, so that their bones, remains, and imprint are preserved in rock. If living things are not buried quickly and under enormous pressure their remains will decay rather than become preserved or fossilized. Most of the many billions of fossils in the earth are found in rock that has been affected by water (Sedimentary Rock). Therefore, most of of the billions of fossils in the earth were formed as a result of the animals and plants being buried suddenly and quickly under tremendous water pressure.

Geologists who are evolutionists believe that local geographical floods over a period of many millions of years deposited these animals and plants and preserved their remains in the earth’s crust. This is only one view.

Geologists who are creationists believe that a one world-wide cataclysmic flood, otherwise known as the Genesis Flood, buried most of these animals and preserved them as fossils in the Earth. Obviously, if it was one world-wide flood that deposited these animals and preserved them as fossils in the earth it would not have taken very long. But, if the fossils were caused by local and limited geographical floods then it would, indeed, have required many millions of years before such local floods could have produced the billions of fossils and deposited them in various layers all over the Earth.

There are many problems, however, with the local flood theory as the cause behind the fossils. Even today local floods are not known to be able to generate the type of tremendous pressure and force necessary to fossilize creatures in rock. Among other arguments, it is difficult to explain how local floods could have carved out such majestic and geographical wonders as the Grand Canyon which is thousands of square miles and packed with billions of fossils and was clearly formed by the cataclysmic action and force of water. Yet, evolutionary geologists are content in believing that the Colorado River merely overflowing its banks, now and then, over millions of years was capable of performing such a feat!

The Bible in Genesis 7 says that much of the water that flooded the whole world came from under the ground. We know even today of vast reservoirs of water that are under the earth. Obviously, if the Genesis account is true, there was much greater amount of water underground in the Earth’s past. Genesis 7 says that this water burst through the surface of the earth and, consequently, covered and changed the entire topography of the earth.

Passages in the Old Testament Book of Psalms describe God as raising high mountains from the earth after the world-wide flood so that the water would recede into the ocean basins. The tremendous velocity and pressure from such receding water is what most likely caused the formation of the majestic Grand Canyon with its billions of fossils.

The fossils in the earth are found to exist in various layers of the Earth’s crust. Evolutionary geologists claim that each layer was formed and deposited by local flooding over many millions of years. However, in various parts of the earth there are fossils of trees that protrude through several layers! This indicates that these layers were deposited and formed almost simultaneously and not over millions of years. Otherwise, the tops of these trees would have decayed a long time ago. The tops of these trees could not wait millions of years to become deposited and fossilized so there is no other explanation except that these layers were deposited in quick succession under cataclysmic forces and conditions.

Furthermoree, evolutionary geologists believe that the lowest layers contain only fossils of simple organisms while the higher layers contain only fossils of complex organisms. This, according to him/her, is evidence that complex organisms evolved from simpler ones over many millions of years. As a result of this view, the evolutionary geologist dates fossils according to the layer of rock in which they are found and, in turn, dates rocks according to the type of fossils they contain (circular reasoning!). Thus, the evolutionary geologist simply assumes that rocks which contain fossils of simple organisms must be very old (because of his/her assumption that those organisms evolved first) while the rocks containing fossils of complex organisms must be younger (because of his/her assumption that those organisms evolved more recently) even when there is no actual physical differences between the rocks themselves!

Besides the many assumptions involved, there are other problems with this view. First, there are no actual transitional stages to connect the so-called progression of simpler organisms in the fossil record to more complex ones. Second, this idea that the lower layers contain fossils of only simpler organisms exists only on paper, in evolutionary textbooks, and not in the real world. There are many areas in the world where fossils of complex organisms are found way beneath layers containing fossils of simpler organisms with no evidence of any shifting of these layers. Of course, if a world-wide flood did occur, then in many cases the lower layers would contain fossils of simpler organisms because these would naturally be the first to be deposited.

Many have insisted that our world and universe must be billions of years old because it would have required billions of years for light from the nearest stars to reach the earth. This is assuming that the stars, galaxies, and universe were not created complete and fully mature from the beginning, with the light already reaching the earth from the moment of creation. Creationists believe that because God created a mature universe from the beginning, it naturally has the appearance of being much older than it actually is. For example, when God created the first man and woman they were mature adults and complete from head to toe. If we had observed them five minutes after they were created we would have thought from their appearance that they had been on earth for many years, even though they were freshly created from the hand of God.

Highly respected sientist and physicist Dr. Thomas G. Barnes has shown that according to the rate of decay of the earth’s magnetic field the earth is only thousands of years old and not billions.

According to evolutionists, the moon is nearly as old as the earth and, from the rate of unimpeded meteors hitting the moon’s surface over billions of years, there should have been many feet of lunar dust on the moon. But, when we landed on the moon we discovered only a thin layer of dust. The moon has no atmosphere to burn up such meteors as the earth does so such collection of dust was a major concern for scientists before the astronuts landed there.

There is much more to say on this subject, and there are many positive evidences for a young earth and universe not covered in this article. Excellent articles and books have been written by highly qualified scientists, including geologists, who are creationists showing scientific evidences for a young earth and universe. M.I.T. scientist Dr. Walt Brown provides considerable information on the topic at his site www.creationscience.com. Also, considerable information on the subject is provided by scientists of the Institute for Creation Research at www.icr.org.
